It is no secret that there are many methods of carpet cleaning out there. In fact, it can get pretty overwhelming. How do you know which method to go with for your own carpets? How do you know what methods actually clean your carpets? We have compiled some different carpet cleaning methods and will explain why Zerorez® is the best.
Carpet Steam Cleaning
Steam cleaning, also known as hot water extraction, is a popular method of carpet cleaning that uses high-pressure hot water to clean the carpets. This method involves injecting a hot water and detergent solution into the carpet pile and then using high pressure to agitate it and extract the solution and dirt. This carpet cleaning method is not very effective for a couple of reasons; one being that it leaves behind a chemical residue. When residue is left behind in your carpet, you are left with crunchy carpets that attract more bacteria and filth. The second problem with steam cleaning is that the high pressure and heat used can actually damage your carpet fibers, shorten their life span, and leave them looking dull. It can also oversaturate your carpet and padding. Put all of those problems together, and all you have is gross, crunchy, and ruined carpet.
Carpet Shampooing
Carpet shampooing is a method of carpet cleaning that was once popular, but it has since become outdated. Carpet shampooing involves applying shampoo to the carpets and then scrubbing it in with a brush. The shampoo is left to sit on the carpets for a while before being extracted with a vacuum. This method is not very effective because the shampoo does not penetrate deep into the carpet fibers like it is supposed to. This leaves dirt and bacteria behind, and your carpets will still look dull and dingy. Another problem with carpet shampooing is the heavy use of soaps. Soaps and detergents leave behind a chemical residue, which attracts even more dirt and bacteria.
Carpet Dry Cleaning
Carpet dry cleaning is a method of carpet cleaning in which the dirt and residue on your carpets are removed by applying a chemical, liquid solvent, or vaporized gas and allowing it to penetrate deep into the carpet fibers. The cleaner is then extracted using an industrial vacuum that has been designed specifically for this purpose. Because of the use of harsh chemicals, this method of carpet cleaning is not a great method. HArsh chemicals are unsafe and it also leaves behind a chemical residue.
Encapsulation
Encapsulation is a carpet cleaning method that uses a special encapsulating agent to trap the dirt and allergens in the carpets. This agent is then either vacuumed up or removed with a wet-dry vac. Encapsulation is also not a great carpet cleaning method because it doesn't actually remove the dirt and allergens from the carpets, it just traps them. The problem with this is that the trapped dirt and allergens can eventually work their way back up to the surface of the carpets and be released into the air, which is not good for your lungs!
Carpet Bonnet Cleaning
Bonnet cleaning is commonly used as a carpet cleaning method for hotels because it serves as a quick fix. The clean does not penetrate deep into the carpet at all. Instead, it just cleans the very surface of the carpet that is seen. Because of this, bonnet cleaning is not very effective.
